Insula
Isolation. Separation. Apartness. Alone.
In this collection, Alfredo Coyotl Cuatlacuatl skillfully uses his talents to explore themes of loneliness and solitude through striking photographs of nature and landscapes. The black and white images, each carefully crafted from locations and moments of significance to the artist, capture the vastness and contrasts of the natural world and draw close parallels to the human journey and the concept of isolation in all its forms; geographic, emotional, social, political and economic. Alfredo’s introspective, reserved nature is best understood through his photographic artistry, and Insula provides an intimate window into his experiences, identities, and vulnerabilities as an immigrant and young professional finding his voice and claiming his space on a journey that is often marked with loneliness.
